Curtains are a good haircut provided you can make your hair non-curly. If you have very curly hair naturally then what OP is doing with a messy fringe and short back and sides is your best option. Your point about masculinity is water though, it's well known that it's a pretty boy hairstyle not a masculine/dom hairstyle.

doesnt suit me cuz im more masc than pretty boy so makes sense
