Cushing's syndrome: a condition from prolonged exposure to high cortisol levels

I was wondering what would happen if someone like me who is pretty high inhib and stressed/anxious pretty often took a form of medication designed for people with Cushing's syndrome to reduce my cortisol levels. This is all hypothetical rn obviously since I don't even know what my cortisol levels are.

If anyone knows anything about Cushing's syndrome and/or the medications used to treat it and if they would work for a regular person pls lmk

if you're just stressed/high inhib, cortisol isn't the root of that it's just a symptom cushings meds seem like hardcore endocrine nukes meant for people with pathologically high cortisol, not "i'm anxious and online a lot" you break shit

fix sleep, training, food and life stress you can't micro optimize stress by popping cortisol blockers without labs is going to feel flat, weak, depressed worse etc,.

i was thinking a microdose

Also, if you were to measure your cortisol, know that your 24h urinary free cortisol is more accurate and a better way of looking at it than serum cortisol.

Cushing's Syndrome is caused by a fucking tumor which results in chronically high cortisol levels that are NOT suppressible by the body's normal feedback mechanisms.
in normal people, cortisol follows a diurnal rhythm and spikes in response to acute stress. Even in chronic stress or anxiety it is regulated by the HPA axis feedback loops. The body retains the ability to lower cortisol (not possible w Cushing's Syndrome)

the meds required -
Steroidogenesis Inhibitors (these directly block enzymes in the adrenal glands to inhibit cortisol synthesis)
Glucocorticoid Receptor Antagonists (this drug does not lower cortisol levels but blocks cortisol from binding to its receptor in tissues)
Pituitary Directed Therapies (This is a somatostatin analog that targets specific pituitary tumors to reduce ACTH secretion)

If you took em, this will happen -
induction of adrenal insufficiency - your body expects and needs a baseline level of cortisol to function. If you pharmacologically lower cortisol below what your HPA axis is programmed for you will exp hypocortisolism because you're retarded. In a REAL stress situation your body would be unable to mount a necessary cortisol response. You probably know what'll happen then.
Raping natural feedback loops - lowering cortisol would signal your pituitary to produce more adrenocorticotropic hormone. This'll fuck up your HPA axis.

yeah i agree with almost all of that except for the fact that cushing's isn't only caused by a tumor

cabergoline lowers cortisol and is used for cushings (also is often used off label for prolactin management in bodybuilders taking 19nor anabolics)

definitely lowers inhibition in some patients but it also eventually will damage your heart valves if taken in high enough dose/duration along with other potential issues.

i'm an older guy and seeing a lot of posts on here talking about lowering/blocking inhibition, while i get the theory its a bit of a dangerous game and you're likely often fighting your natural disposition rather than any pathology you think you might have

i wouldn't say that lowering inhib is THAT dangerous if u do it once in a while
like maybe once a month i'll do 300mg of pregabalin and that's awesome and doesn't really have side effects
and then propranolol has no side effects and can be taken more consistently

preg and propranolol are working by supressing threat/anxiety salience

in contrast, using caber would genuinely be attempting to boost your baseline disinhibition rather than blocking the factors (such as anxiety fear) that create inhibition.

its just a lot stronger and higher risk/less predictable...

i've never seen anyone talk abt caber before

its used often in bodybuilding for when guys are on tren/ment/nandrolone to lower prolactin in order to prevent male lactation (yes)

the lowered inhibition is more or less considered a potential and undesirable side effect

yeah i've done some research into prolactin but to increase it not lower
not for me tho

There is a very rare combo that might just be for your case:
Ketoconazole 400mg: it lowers cortisol and reduces stress relatd physical symptoms
Risperidone 1mg: it's used off label for severe anxiety and it works by increasing prolactin levels. (Dose should be lower than typical maintenance dose since ketoconazole can increase its serum concentration)

Like this post if it was helpful and mark it as solution (it's the check mark on my right)
