Opportunity cost refers to the value of the best alternative option that you “give up” when you make a choice between mutually exclusive options.

This could be for: positive options, where all available options results in varying levels of positive outcomes and the individual in said decision making chooses the highest net positive option (e.g. choosing studying instead of cooking a healthy meal), or on the contrary: negative options, where the existing options are all differently negative in outcome and the individual in the conundrum must then “cut their losses” by choosing the overall least net negative choice knowing full well that failure is futile and just picking what poison “stings less” (e.g. choosing to ignore gossip about you instead of escalating matters).

Related to the matter of this article is the key concept of motivational theories (F.w Taylor aka moneymaxxing or Maslow’s hierarchy of needs) or so as I like to call them “socio-anthropological boundaries of self-actualization” (the shit that prevents you from living life). These boundaries are as so:

Genetic

Socio-economic

Cultural

Geographical

Furthermore, understanding the idea of the social hierarchy is crucial, which refers to the ranking of an individual’s value relative to the masses, and the consequences derived from it such as the implication that value is relative and it is based on the surrounding comparisons (mogging)

When faced with these boundaries of self-actualization, a person can choose to “climb” the ladder by improving on what they are able to, (with varying degrees of success based on what factors the person was initially lacking e.g. a dude wont be truly loved by money maxxing if he is chopped, but not the case for someone who moneymaxes when they already have desired genetics like CL and above), or cope (suicide, “hobbies”, religion to a certain degree, etc...)

The concept of opportunity cost is crucial when reviewing the human social anthropological boundaries to motivation that prevent one from climbing the ladder of social hierarchy.

tldr : if you arent gifted with what makes you higher ranked in society get ready to pick your poison
