The most terminally negative users often treat cynicism as intelligence because admitting hope would expose them to disappointment.
I’ve noticed some people can’t engage with any positive idea without immediately trying to tear it down. Not because they’ve logically disproven it, but because being hopeful requires risk. If you’re cynical about everything, you never have to be wrong, never have to fail, never have to get your hopes up.
Sometimes pessimism is wisdom.
Sometimes it’s just emotional self defence.
