Its true that both women and men are willing to "settle" in terms of physique. That doesn't mean they prefer it. If you have high total SMV as a man, yes you can get away with a dad bod. But the dad bod is a negative hit on your SMV, and so its a bad thing. Just because there are other factors to make up for it doesn't mean dad bod is a good thing.

Of course, some extremely minor amount of women fetishize it, but the reality is that they want a lean (10-15%) muscular guy. But why even say they want that when a) there are so few guys like that and b) most study participants don't have the slightest chance of sleeping with someone with an optimal physique
