Now, I don't want to engage in armchair psychology, far be it from me, but very often, or at least often enough to consider it relevant, a woman who expresses disgust or disapproval towards your controversial actions (if you are attractive, let's be clear, or at least valuable, i.e. not so attractive but you have other “assets” such as status or blah blah) is more likely to be attracted to you than one who does not.
The function of gossip among women is not only to directly signal who is “hot”, who is not, who is capable, who is a good teddy bear, but also to do so indirectly.
If a group of girls talk badly about a man because he is mean/evil/blah blah and that man is attractive, well, be careful because it's a very “good” thing
