dark circles

Yesterday, I had an appointment with a dermatologist who told me that my dark circles are actually just due to the natural pigmentation of my skin in that area. She said there’s nothing I can do about it since it’s just my natural skin tone. She didn't really seem interested in what I had to say, which was probably because the consultation was free. On the bright side, I did get a prescription for tret, so that’s a bonus. Do you think she lied to me just to get rid of me? I feel like a Vitamin C serum might help.
any advice??
also i will change her and go to a different dermatologist in 2 months
