Dating someone but not wanting to DATE them?

Dating certain people can feel like hell, why do you tell me you wanna “date” me and don’t want to lose me but when i ask you to hang out you make up an excuse or when i ask for basic human communication you struggle with it, it’s not difficult to want to talk to someone if you truly want them as a partner, literally got told “i like being alone sometimes” after having excuses made for every request to hangout over a 2 week period, if your dating someone would you not wanna DATE that person? i get the “i like being alone” but even when your alone do you still not love a person enough to give them basic communication? i initiate EVERY conversation with my girlfriend and the only time i can get her to message me is if i don’t text for a whole day, why date someone if you aren’t gonna DATE that person
