Deadlifts are one of the most basic lifts, but alot of old school bodybuilders claim that it ruins your v shape and fucks up your aesthetics.

What do you think?

I don't know but it feels better than squats to me. I hate squats
 
I don't think you need to do them if you are looking for that V look. I think squats are not good at real young ages either. Just do angled leg presses instead.
 
dont worry about it unless youre juicing and way above natty limit imo

they will thicken you up and make your back look really good, give you nice glutes

dont have to go as hard on them (squats too) as beginner routines have you go tho and dont do them if youre not confident in your form

dont like them (6"6.5) also most powerlifters agree that even with perfect form in the long run squats, dl, and bench fuck u up

If you want a balanced full body program (and anyone who wants to put on significant size should be doing a full body program), you need to do squats plus some kind of hip hinge to prevent you from becoming too quad-dominant. So maybe you could get away with hip thrusts or power cleans or something like that if you have a good reason not to do deadlifts.

If you are avoiding compound exercises in general, you are just being lazy and wasting your time.

Stiff legged / romanian deadlifts are chad lifts, conventional is for gymcels

Its a shit excercise that belongs in the powerlifting community only.

Causes huge strain on the lower back over time and eventually lead to back issues.

You might not appreciate just how bad life is when you have back issues.

If you want a v taper and a good back then do pull ups and add weights. Doesnt cause any issues at all and mogs dead lifts.

This is what you do to your discs every time you dead lift.

Stay away from loaded flexion excercises. I have a bulging disc that i have to manage for the rest of my life and work around with. I can still excercise effectively but just have to be careful.

The fitness community has the worst misonformation from selling you shitty protein powders to telling people to eat tons calories and carb up which gives them insulin resistance to taking 500mg testosterone which messes up their hormonal profile.

Dont trust anything.

most of the compound lifts are junk, they are for powerlifters, if you are looking for hypertrophy its better to focus on the individual muscles etc. eugene teo, derek, leo all agree to this notion
