I remember I'd gotten into an argument with a girl in my class back in middle school, I don't exactly remember the reason but I was being accused of taking something or some shit. Again, no memory what the actual topic of discussion was but it's irrelevant for the most part anyway

I was making a lot of good points overall and I kept myself calm, anytime I would sense a cortisol spike I would try to take deep breaths and shi. This was hard to maintain as it was 5 hoes on my dick constantly interrupting me and averaging 5 logical fallacies per minute but overall I was nowhere close to yelling

Out of nowhere this girl starts absolutely bursting into tears as she's yelling at me telling me to shut up (KEEP IN MIND SHE DRAGGED ME INTO THIS SHIT)

And before I could even say a word I already see 3 niggas around me going "bro why you make a girl cry that's not cool" and the whole time I was like ???? Nigger shut your simping ass up.

Anyway even though I should've won on paper I lost in the eye of people because of one tear drop. This was a 100% on me, though. I fully knew she was sensitive as fuck and would weaponize her tears but I was so sure I could destroy her with muh "facts and logic"

Tldr; always pick your fights. Debating is fun but you will gain nothing out of debating somebody who will just start crying.

If you are surrounded by normies and debating someone who is emotionally charged, exit the discussion as soon as they show that they prioritize their own emotions over logic.
