debunking pascals wager

Pascal's wager worked because at its point of origin no debate about which god was the proper one to follow existed, back then in western society it was either christianity or atheism and it has been so for a long time until now

better to just be throw up your hands and go with whatever your parents are imo.

its like the best case if your parents are like christian or muslim , then going with their faith is the best if you suffer hellfire you will suffer with them if you go to heaven you will go with them

unless you are some psycho who likes seeing his family get tortured.
The thing with religion though, if you wanna go to heaven, you will have to put god FIRST. That means above your family too. To go to heaven you have to have the mindset that if your family go to hell, that's for the best. That they deserve it. That god's judgement is never wrong. Being religious kills your empathy a little bit. Makes you a slave.

Pascal Wager is one of those silly arguments that people from "Muh let's join all faiths and hold hands together" and Christians who have ultimately rejected lots of literalist interpretations due to all being debunked use.

You barely see muslims and people from other faiths use that argument because they mainly rely on their own religious texts and other types and classifications of evidences for the existence of God, not on silly philosophical arguments that at the same time could easily go against their own theology and goals.

It's real that it has an undeniable truth to it (Believing in God gives you a higher chance to avoid hell if life was a gamble), but in an iceberg of arguments for God's Existence or for the superiority of Theism over Atheism it would be at the sheer and absolute bottom

Using the Pascal Wager to debunk atheism is almost like when atheists use evolution to debunk the existence of a Creator. You are not really debunking anything, you are just making the argument that existence came about and took different forms gradually-making the point that believing in a God gives you more possibilities of not suffering hell than not.

It's one of those examples of how someone picks an argument that has some substance and truth to it, but especially, he realizes that it has an effect in people especially if they are isolated from other faiths, and then deifies it and tries to give it a bigger reach than what it's real potential has, just because it has the capacity to convince the ignorant masses but it barely has any real value in front of the learned scholar. A proof that the human being prioritizes pride and supremacy during an argument than putting an effort into seeking the actual truth. That's why i said the other day this in another thread

no if your family and you turn out to be right about your religion then you are saved and other is if you false then you suffer with them which is also pretty reasonable, the mindset etc are just false gimmicks you need to have the right god and in the end you are saved works and deeds dont matter much.

The afterlife is a very Christian and Islamic idea tbh. Judaism, Buddhism, Jainism are not as focused on the hereafter as much if at all.

You can be a religious Jew and not believe in anything after death and that’s theologically consistent.

Even concepts like messiah, satan are much more metaphorical and poetic than in Christianity and Islam. Often this is due to translation errors or just pure agendas. I’d say the romans ruined the world due to their adoption of Christianity arguably.
