There are lots of people on here who make the midface ratio that big of a deal and I will tell you what is actually the case
A lot of people here state that 1:1 Midface ratio is ideal or a little above that isnt that big of a deal whereas if its lower than 0.9 you should rope but its the exact other way around.
Men tend to have longer midface ratios because they usually posess a longer philtrum and a larger nose. A midface ratio bigger than 1:1 will make you look feminine and make people percieve you less dominant and less serious an example for that would be Tom Welling or Jordan Barrett without even measuring that ratio our brains automatically percieve them as boyish and less dominant like a little baby. A big midface ratio is a feminine trait and is quite a huge flaw on a mans face.
However a longer midface ratio ( imo can even go up to 0.85 ) wont even be that noticeable ( if paired with a good FWHR ) and is desired by women, as studies show women are attracted to men with lower eme angles ( different measurement of the midface )
look how unthreataning they look. Of course doesnt mean women wont be attracted to them they have everything else but for example in an argument with the man they wouldnt percieve him as dominant or not take him that serious even though technically they posess a high FWHR. However a long midface ratio with a high FWHR is what makes a face truly masculine like shown here
.
Based off these pictures you can clearly see who is more threataning and more dominant, which has to do with sexual dimorphism
What is a problem would be a low FWHR and a LOW midface ratio but we are talking about the Midface ratio only here.
