If the age of consent is 16, and and adult is acquainted with someone under that age, but doesn’t have sex with them below the age of consent, then later does have sex when they are legal, it’s not grooming. Grooming requires the intent to commit a sexual offense, aka an actual crime.
The reason the age of consent exists is because before a certain age one is deemed unable to consider the consequences of sex such as STD’s and pregnancy, but if no sex occurs, then the point of this law is being respected.
Knowing someone before they turn legal is similar to Black Friday shopping. You show up early and stand in front of the door, this way you’re first in line, and get in the store first. If you try to show up right when the store opens, there’s too much competition to get the goodies. Why the hell wouldn’t you arrive early and save your place? It’s not like you’re breaking into the store early, so you’re a law abiding citizen, and this there is no moral transgression. Those who claim it is a moral transgression are just shaming you for strategy.
