deepbite vs overbite

what is the difference, i ve never heard of deepbite before? i have braces rn and the ortho is telling me to wear elastics but wont that recess my maxilla? should i wear them or not?

if not then what other solution is there to fixing it

Overbite is definitely worse than deepbite. tall chin > short chin. I wish I had deepbite instead of overbite
