Delaying OBO plans till much later due to work constraints; getting other procedures starting with genio in 2026 in the meantime

Long post so dnr tl;dr: I want to keep the OBO dream alive but it’s not in the cards yet due to work constraints; will go back to a previous plan of starting with just genio and working my way up to it

What I was recently set on: save up 50k, head to Giant, and get a mega all-in-one op

Reality check: even though a big reason I changed careers to the trades was for the ability to take lots of time off, it just ain’t possible really while in the throes of an apprenticeship. I asked around at work recently about what kind of precedent there was for taking a “theoretical longer break” (month+) during the 3 summer months where you just have to work and not attend the night school, and I was met with immediate suspicion and scorn Only in very rare cases where someone straight up broke a leg or something has that happened. JFL @ “uhhhh yea brb boss finna catch a flight to Istanbul for orbital reconstruction”

So I will have to wait till ~4 years from now to take advantage of that sweet sweet 6 months of banked health insurance coverage that fully topped out tradies get, and consequently OBO (not like I didn’t desperately need that time to save up ofc)

Alright, so where does that leave us - with the relatively smaller non-eye area procedures. That would be:
- genio
- lip lift
- HT
- possibly jaw angles?

I will piecemeal those out, one op per summer while indentured in the program, then finally get to OBO when I’m free

I’ll do everything either through Giant himself or a recommended partner surgeon for the soft tissue stuff

I’ve been stagnant at ~27k in savings since this summer because I initially took a brutal payout when jumping back into trade work, but just last week I got a $5/hr raise (with more to come in time) + I am forcing my lazy ass to pick up some OT shifts, so I want to bump that up to 30k-35k before reaching out to RSM to get things rolling (I am an extremely high inhib anxious cuck and want plenty of savings padded up just in case before scheduling this shit out for real)

I also need to get my mental taken care of as well, no more doomer schizo celing…

And yes I will let results good or bad be public ofc

When I got surgeries I was a poverty cel. I just saved up what I could, got a bank loan, used up all my annual leave and flew abroad alone against my parent's wishes. My plan was ascend first and worry about the details later.

You're young, you can always get a new job or career. Hell for all you know they will fire your ass in 6 months

I'm not gonna tell you what surgeries to get but I do think you should just get them all done asap and just find a way to make it happen

When I got surgeries I was a poverty cel. I just saved up what I could, got a bank loan, used up all my annual leave and flew abroad alone against my parent's wishes. My plan was ascend first and worry about the details later.

Lifefuel, I’m thinking about going that route too. I mean at some point the interest of a loan costs less than the toll of remaining unattractive. Can I ask what surgeries did you get and what age?

Thinking back on it I really should have just stayed put in my previous warehouse job for a while longer, then quit and have gotten all my surgeries, then made the switch. But it’s too late now This is how it has to be, I don’t want throw away yet another career opportunity that I’ve already gotten into
