I have an overbite and dental brace pushes my bottom teeth to forward so my jaw is moving forward a little bit
also my orthodontist told me that my jaw slightly widens

It can make your face more recessed because of extractions. Most orthos are concerned with creating straight teeth rather than the overall facial profile/growth, so they don't care if one of their patients grow wrong as long as they have straight teeth. Tbh this is why I'm trying to find a functional orthodontist instead of the regular type.

I had a palate expander in my mouth for 3 years and it actually made me look slightly better.
If it's pulling your front teeth backwards it can fuck your face up really bad though.
