I've had derealization since I was 14 (now im 17), I don't know why, and since then i feel like i am watching a movie.

I miss those times when i were a kid who actually felt alive.

It's caused by trauma and disassociating I've had it all my life and tbh I believe in part is what sabotaged my ability to connect with people

Some people will say meds but meds just made shit far worse for me

Ya I understand it's the inability to be present

I struggle with that a lot

What's actually happening is that it's mostly trauma reminders or active trauma that are forcing you to go into a numb state

I get the feeling of not being able to engage properly

Talking to people who get it and aren't going to judge you can help

Having a job helped me because it forced me to focus but long term I still have the same problem. I'm not really all there and people pick up on that and it's off-putting. You get better at faking it but it feels robotic. I get what you're saying. I feel like I'm an avatar.
