I had acne for 5 years. Took accutane through last spring and summer and it cleared up. Started retin a in December. Got micro needling in April(scarring isn’t that bad but it’s there). Had an acne breakout but I thought it was because I stopped retin a while my skin was hella sensitive. I know accutane doesn’t work permanently for some people so I figured that was me and my skin had only been staying clear bc of retin a. Resumed retin a, skin cleared up. Needles again in may, broke out again. Same shit. Then I found out that needles and lasers can cause acne breakouts. stopped retin a a week or two ago and my skin is still clear. It was the needling. It can help with scars but it can also just give you acne. Be careful.

It is a temporary breakout. The benefits outweigh the negatives in my case

Yeah it improved my skin but it’s a pain in the ass. Just putting it out there for the people bc this is something I never heard. What’s your experience been with needling?

I don't think it directly causes acne. Perhaps the needle was kinda dirty.

No. Brand new sterile needles. Literally done professionally at a clinic and I had acne for weeks

Hmm interesting. I guess the open space in your skin causes bacteria to enter.

Or something else, just admit you don’t know what you’re talking about, that’s totally fine I won’t judge you for it

I get it done at a clinic. So far it has definitely tightened my skin even after just 2 sessions. I get minor acne after each session which dries out and fucks off once I shower

Oh Mirin, it literally made me break out for two week. I think it made my acne scars less pigmented tho.

Yes me too. It is definitely worth it. It can be painful as fuck sometimes cuz the doc really digs into my skin jfl

Indeed at the clinic they used numbing cream on me so nbd. When I needles at home with 2 mm depth on my pen I was able to do most of my face without it being too bad. But the forehead? Fuck man that hurts. Less fat and thinner skin so it’s tough up there. That and the acne is why I haven’t done it since. Luckily most of my scarring is just on my cheeks where it doesn’t hurt as bad.
