Did anyone manage to increase their intelligence and mental health by reading books?

A while ago I cut my screen time by about 50% and instead spent more time reading books, going on walks, and playing chess, since people claim it helps with dopamine issues, brain fog, and might even increase intelligence. The results were negligible, but reading books turned out to be pretty fun. Has anyone else experienced anything different?

No. Only thing that books will bring you is knowledge.

Mental health, maybe. If it's books that helped you, you weren't in that bad of a situation to begin with.

Philosophy, for me, is generally just for debate. I doubt that I'll ever apply Kantian philosophy (or the like) to my life.

I've been meaning to try and read more to increase my vocabulary and improve my grammar.
