Did i get scammed at car mechanic

I went in to fix a small windshield Crack (1 inch). he charged 50$

I said ok can you charge the insurance

He said ok but if you pay by card it will charge tax

So I said oh I have cash

He didn't give me a receipt

you could’ve done it for cheaper sure but it’s not a major loss, on average DIY is 15, with legitimate mechanic prices being 30ish. Nothing too crazy. Think of 20$ as a no hassle fee since you didn’t have to ring up insurance.

not a scam thats like 35 real dollars and u don’t really wanna use ur insurance for tiny shit or they might raise ur rate
