Did my invisalign stunt my growth? (No surgeries, implants, supplements or anything of the sort)

I’m currently 15, turning 16 in 2 and a half months and I started wearing Invisalign since I was 11 or 12 (can’t remember). The reason I’ve been wearing it for this long is because I slacked off for a few years but now I’m wearing the recommended 18-22 hours daily. My maxilla is currently recessed and I have a narrow face but I want a couple mm of forward growth. Has wearing Invisalign at a young age caused the narrowness and recession and is it still possible to change that at my age while still wearing Invisalign?

Definetly possible but not the only possible reason. Bone, in particular when young changes if force is applied to it, so be careful which ones you apply. A more common reason is mouthbreathing. This is the root cause of recession. Maybe your nostrals are blocked due to an allergy or they are too small naturally. Anyways I'd recommand a pallete expander or an expansion plate, the expander is better. This helps with a lot and fixes the nose problem since the recession only get's worse from herr trust me. Consult your doctor and dentist about it, idk where you live nor if you have Insurance so let's leave it here

Thank you! Does mouth breathing cause permanent changes? I have been doing it on and off for a couple of years and probably subconsciously and during my sleep

Yeah it rapes you over time. At the beginning when ur still growing u don't notice anything but when you get older you will notice the maxillary and mandibular recession progress. Get your nasal pathway fixed and learn how to mew to preserve what you have over the years. Sometimes Myo Therapy is enough but as I said sometimes medical procedures are required. If you have insurance ask Chat GPT how you should talk to your doctor to get it sponsored. Ask me if you want tips but be specific.

What is maxillary and mandibular recession? What do you mean by fixing the nasal pathway? I can position my tongue correctly for the day but is it required during the night? What is myo therapy? Is there any way to reverse the effects or am I too old now?

Sorry if that’s a lot of questions

Hey sorry for letting you wait for so long but I was on vacation. Recession is when your face is flat from a side point of view, chin pushed back, no chin projection, the standard "nerd look". Fixing the nasal pathway can be done by consulting an orthodontist for example. He might have devices for you that expand your maxilla and therefore airway. But there are a lot of other things you can do to fix it, idk how you look like so I'm just gonna go with the standard approach. Correct tounge posture should be applied 24/7 but sometimes you can't do it if for example you have to mouthbreathe or you upper pallete and therefore airway is too narrow - orthodontist can help a little here - or your muscles need to be trained first to be able to hold propper tounge posture by dental MYO therapy. Idfk what you are working with but those would be the standard approaches.

Over? Kinda. Mewing is most effective when ur young cus your bones are weak and easy to reshape under 12. But at 16 it might still improve your asthetics, no doubt, but to be clear you are not going to ascend like crazy doing this, this is simply to preserve what you have #agepill can kick in even sooner if you don't fix shit like this. Mouthbreating is also terrible for your health.

I don't wanna give you bad advice but have you ever heard of roidmaxxing? You are young and a couple of extra hormones wouldn't hurt if used properly.

Is it not more coherent to think that whatever caused the need for invisaligns is also the cause for your recession?
