But there is evidence that the camps were not as deadly as they were appeared to be, with evidence that shows the concertation camps being work stations and the gas chambers actually being disinfectant chambers for clothes.

There's already been a lot of revision away from the original trial claims at Nuremberg. The lead prosecutor alleged that the Nazis had an advanced nuclear weapon's program and blew up villages full of Jews to test it out.

Prior to this they were being used for prison labour, a majority died due to being worked to death, shot, disease and malnutrition I believe.

Looking it up the height was between 1943-44 and seeing as the extermination camps were mostly located in the east in occupied Poland, apart from one in the Balkans and the concentration camps that were liberated in Austria by the allies. The eastern ones were liberated by the Soviet Union which is the most likely reason for an exact figure being very difficult to find for the holocaust.
