I'm doing a Sopranos rewatch and realized, upon seeing this young pic of Gandolfini, that he might be one of those rare cases in which leanmaxxing actually makes you look worse.
I don't know how young he was in that pic, so that might be contributing (lack of maturation), but his jaw seems too overpowering and his very high gonial angle takes away from his looks. That coupled with his ogre chin/philtrum ratio makes him look weird when his jawline is clearly visible.
I believe he looked better when he was fatter, even when you factor in the balding. His large and broad build really suits this sort of 'rugged' look. The best he looked on the show was ofc, in the flashback to the early 90s when he was pictured with a bit more hair.
