I kinda doubt it, my grandparents lived in a village and were peasants, there was always work to do around the house: feed the animals, clean the pig pen and chicken coops, gather plants and herbs, water the crops, get water from the well, repair the house, the sheds, the fences, etc.
They had no tap water or a gas oven, a simple task like preparing a meal took a lot of time: they had to gather wood for the fire, make the fire, get water from the well, boil some water, kill a chicken, pluck its feathers, clean it with hot water, cook the chicken, get some more water to clean the dishes, etc.
