My dad kinda did, but his remarks were that he wished that he looked like me growing up. That is sort of a backhanded compliment because it implies that he is/was noticeably ugly and I look like him so what good is that. I think my mother realized I was going to have a hard life because I'm ugly and never really gaslit me. Occasionally she would remark that I'm kinda intelligent and there is some truth in that but I honestly think she should have chose a more handsome mate.
