It didn't work for me. Maybe there were other reasons, my dad was very cold to me most of the time, he never even hugged me, I guess that was worse than the spanking.

My mom always like gets out of control — she’s mentally unstable for real — and slaps me or scratches me, usually leaving marks but no big deal. My dad sometimes canalizes his anger and stress towards me and sometimes is pretty physically agressive but never hurt me.
When I was little they literally made me have cold showers as a punishment, among other things. I guess that’s the way it is lol. Now I’m really traumatized with cold showers kek, but I’m not bitching about it and try to take some once in a while.

First, I would do everything so that punishment isn't needed. If it's still needed, I would try other forms of punishment, they would be grounded or had to do difficult housework for weeks. If it gets extreme, I would think of other things, but most kids don't do extreme shit tbh.
