Didn't go to the gym for 2 weeks and starved for most of it but strength is higher? What causes this

My OHP/Military Press is 150 lbs and I expected it to drop drastically but it actually went up

Bench is same though

Is this just rest causing this?

You just recovered. Probably built up a lot of fatigue that you recovered and supercompensated from. It's not uncommon.

First week I ate at maintenance and 2nd week cut extremely hard maybe lost 3lb that last week

Happened to me once too

Was shocked

proper recovery time is better for strength than volume

Can’t remember the last time I took a week straight off from lifting

Isn’t it recommended like every 8 weeks or something

BBC.

Though it’s prob rest. I went a week not lifting or running and then I did the next week and I was faster and stronger. If you are a lot of protien on your rest week your body recovered well

What’s that?

I literally train daily
2-3 times a week on high volume 80-85% of PR full body training till failure

I used to do 5-6x a week and I felt like shit and was weak

I went down to 4 days a week and now Im on 3 and Im strong as fuck even though im cutting

I smashed a Benchpress PR on Wednesday (100kgx8 for 3 sets)

Trained back on thrusday

Legs on friday

Back to chest on Saturday and could no longer hit that same Becnchpress PR

My fucking shoulder felt pinched, forcing me to go down to 90kg

Rather than PPL (push pull legs) I might switch to PPLC (cardio)

So 3 full days between each muscle group rather than 2 might improve recovery ❤️
