I am diagnosed high functioning autist and nobody could ever guess that I have it. I can literally get along with almost anyone and make friends with them, and don’t struggle with social cues or situations. Ppl think I’m a NT jock that’s just smart af. For me it’s all mental basically (plus my nervous system), just how I compartmentalise and process things, and view the world as well as myself. This is the same with like 3 or 4 of my cousins and my grandpa that have no problem socialising but have very autistic brains.

Isn't high functioning where it doesn't really affect your IQ? So it's not a gift but it isn't that debilitating.

Well, statistically level 1 high functioning autists have an average iq of just below 130. But I think iq tests are stupid, they don’t make sense to me. I don’t really believe in them, nor do I think they give an accurate measure of overall intelligence. Level 3 and above is when it starts to drop.

I would say it’s both a gift and a curse. I also have adhd and it runs in my family to an extent

I've been diagnosed with high functioning autism. I'm awaiting an ADHD diagnosis too, as I've heard that can interfere with learning.

Tales From the psych was
Aspergers = high iq classic autism = low iq
what are u referring to the difference between high functioning and low functioning autism? Also u need 140-150+ iq to make up for autism or autism + adhd

There is no gift to autism + adhd. It’s a satanic curse put upon by God to weaken those who suffer from it. There is no successful person with these 2 disorders because it’s a disability jfl

I have high functioning autism, but possible ADHD, which makes learning pretty hard. I've been officially diagnosed with high functioning autism, but my ADHD makes it hard to comprehend the words I am reading and with executive function skills.

I heard ADHD is manageable, and that treatment can be life changing, but that's just what I've heard. It would be massive lifefuel tbh.

It isn’t with autism ngl

It really depends. Both are a spectrum, and it gets more complex when you have both.

I am really craving for financial success, but I have to be realistic about my expectations tbh. Hard work doesn't mean shit when you haven't got the right mind for it. I still need to lose weight and get in shape, which may slightly sharpen my mind hopefully, but that's probably just cope.

3 or 4 of my cousins have it, as well as my grandpa possibly, and they all have quite successful careers

All my cousins are successful with spouses but they were NT + didn’t have certain setbacks in life that happen to me past 2 years.

I think I only know of one relative who has what I have and ended up successful but had tragedy strike him.

I’ve had no struggles getting or keeping any job, and am currently studying law. One of my cousins even went to uni four times for fun lol.

Lifefuel. My uncle is only successful person in my family, and owns a multi million company with 70 employees, and he is aspergers. Rest of my family are brokies, including my parents.

My dad is also very similar to me obviously

Yeah mine ended up going the entrepreneurial route but before that he was writing up perfect contracts without having any legal training and would hand them to massive property developers in South Africa. My grandad said that me as well as my cousins have this thing where we appear normal and don’t try and put on an act or mask but our minds work in pretty strange ways. For example I can go on any random topic for hours and come out and do it extremely well, or just give full blown lectures on it. My mind is naturally very hyperactive but I’m also good with nuance, navigation and social situations. I can read people very well. Not to say I’m extremely smart or a genius, idek how I do it, it just comes out, even if I haven’t read up on it in ages or only read a few things. Sometimes I’ll also just look something up, question and doubt things, then write dozens and dozens of pages of notes on it. Even with doctors and specialists, or in a lot of my uni classes, or other ones I’ve been in, I feel like I don’t really learn anything I don’t already know, except with certain things obviously. Even with my psychiatrist I’ll predict what they’ll do or end up saying what they were going to say, even in a scientific way, and they agree with me. Basically I’m just a very fast learner and can just rat off on or write shit just coz I guess lol. And before my exams, I’ll just write 70 pages of notes in a couple days. Even in the ward I’ve helped many people get better treatment because of my knowledge on psychopharmacology, same with law. Sometimes it literally feels like I’m a teacher or some shit but I don’t try to be and fuck being a doctor. I want power and status and to contractmax since I love constant conflict and challenge.

It was pretty crazy, my grandad literally said they all report the same shit when seeing doctors and specialists. And they are definitely not cocky or arrogant people. Usually the people who try to be smart or tell everyone they’re so smart are cocky, arrogant and trying way to hard to be high iq philosopher or whatever it is

Jfl. Doctors are always pushing drugs on people too. They prescribed me anti depressants, and then up my dosages by 10 mg. They always get nervous when I mention the side effects, and how anti depressants lead to erectile dysfunction, which then has to be treated with viagra. I stopped taking their jewish shit and don't go back. Doctors are the worst.

Every time I get put on one or a combination I will write like 30 pages of notes on why it might not be working psychopharmacologically/scientifically for my condition, and how the drugs are metabolised by the liver via neurotransmitters.

Or why other mede could be a better fit scientifically and in a personal sense to help with symptoms, how they overlap, how they effect hormones (and why they do), how they interact/work when it comes to different neurotransmitters/receptors on their own and in combination with other possible alternatives (e.g. inhibition, disinhibition of certain drug metabolising enzymes - obv related to hormones, inverse or direct agonism/antagonism + receptor affinity, etc. etc.)

I also research and figure out what effects that has on the brain and body and how it’s all linked. Most people just accept what they’re given and don’t know shit, so the psychiatrists take advantage of that, but when you do this, they have no other choice but to actually do their job properly and explain things in an in depth scientific way.

I could go on and on about theories, what I’ve done with my own meds and discovered over the past couple months but not here but in pm jfl I’ll ramble for too long otherwise. Did it yesterday with some chick for four hours coz she said she was interested in neuroscience and then she was fucking shocked and like wtf how do you have capacity for this shit. This was at the ward btw yesterday. People can’t comprehend others not being a straight bot.

Also you said you have asd and adhd so feel free to ask me questions since I was in the ward for a month and am now an outpatient seeing my psych, gp and therapist regularly. Also it was funny yesterday he mentioned serotonin and how that’s the most important thing then he ended up agreeing with me later and we had a discussion about pharmacology and why it’s probably more of an issue with dopamine/adrenaline. Then he said yeah we just say that to patients since it’s broad and they know about serotonin and its rep as a happy hormone. ended up saying too psychiatrists haven’t believed in the serotonin hypothesis for 20 years and we’re still trying to figure out how and why these drugs work and that we could both talk about studies, receptors, and neurotransmitters for hours.
