Aren't the 2 of them kinda like the same ? And the solution should be finasteride right?

My highly toxic dermatologist tried to not prescribe me finasteride at all cost and wanted me to hop on minoxidil instead. But isn't finasteride superior for keeping hair, even before the real shitshow begins? At the end I got my fin, gonna do bloodwork soon and book a consultation with another dermatologist for the dosing.

Am I misinformed or wth is going on?
