I recently got imaging done due to TMJ disorder issues. Basically, the right side of my mandible is significantly smaller and its caused the joint to recess, but most importantly its caused major assymetries in my whole face (Including deviated septum). Almost every feature is lop-sided to where people have commented on it. The doctor wants me to suspend my orthodontics being done with another place and proceed with a bite guard and other softmax treatments to correct my jaw clenching and grinding that keeps breaking my brackets. He said they try to avoid surgery on the joint because it is really high risk. Is there anything I can do to restore my symmetry that isnt cosmetic? Im not sure if I should move forward with this because its expensive and not really covered by insurance. Or is anyone aware if this would help my symmetry?
