Introduction to Botox
Botox can be used for many facial procedures such as nose sliming, lip flips, mouth widening, lowering the eyebrows and slimming the jaw. Botulinum toxin type A (Btox) paralyses the muscle that it is injected into. This helps us as we can paralyse overactive muscles that effect our face negatively.

Doing botox at home is much cheaper then doing it at a clinic, you can do botox at home for around 50 dollars whereas doing the procedure at a clinic can go from 400-800 dollars.

Botox injections are quite difficult but by understanding nasal anatomy and correct placement of the needle with proper procedure, it can be used effectively to slim your nose.

Risks of doing Botox by yourself

DIY Botox comes with many risks such as asymmetry, different results that skew your face (for around 3 months) and in extreme situations breathing problems. Botox requires you to do a lot of your own research on muscle depth, correct amount of botox units to suit your face and understanding facial anatomy (in this case ur nasal anatomy).

I am not advertising the use of botox by yourself. This thread is for educational purposes only. I am not responsible for any skewed results.

Why would we use Botox to slim the nose

Botox is used to slim the nose as when we breathe out or make facial expressions ,a muscle in our nose called the Dilator naris anterior flares out and causes us to make our nostrils look bigger then it actually is and make our nose to mouth width ratio worse which can make us look worse especially when smiling. When we paralyse the Dilator naris anterior with btox it can’t flare out anymore making our nose appear slimmer while making facial expressions, smiling or talking.

The Procedure
First step: Reconstitution

IMG 7944

Botulinum Toxin Type A vials always need to be stored in a fridge. For every 100 units of botox you need to use 2.5ml of 0.9% saline. This means that 0.1ml is 4 units and 0.05ml is 2 units. You can freeze all of your leftover product for other procedures or using botox again after results go away.

Second Step: Loading Syringes (Use 28-30G+ syringes, insulin syringes work)

You need to decide how much botox you are going to inject into each side of your nose:

  • 2 units - low paralysation (still very effective) - 0.05ml per syringe
  • 3 units - medium paralysation (aggressive for a normal nose) - 0.075ml per syringe
  • 4 units - high paralysation (very high amount, only use if nose is extremely flared) - 0.1ml per syringe
U will need 2 syringes loaded with the amount of botulinum toxin u want to inject into each side of your nose. After you pre-fill each syringe put the cap back on and keep them ready for ur injections

Third Step: Preparing your face

Hold your hair up with one of those skincare hairbands that foids use or a rubber tie or smthn

IMG 7945

Wash your whole face properly with a quality (preferably moisturising) cleanser
Then apply apply a generous amount of lidocaine cream over the dilator naris anterior

IMG 7938

Wipe of all the lidocaine cream after 30-45mins

Step 4: Marking out injection spots

Use 2 separate alcohol swab pads to rub the nose over twice
before you mark out your points. After letting your alcohol dry, mark out your injection points (eyeliner, pen etc) on the middle of the dilator naris anterior with a small cross or a dot to refer to when you inject.

Step 5: Injection process :feelsautistic:

Go in at a 90° angle as it is an intermusular injection without pinching the skin. Go in around 2-3mm (u can feel the muscle). Once ur in inject the botox and ur done.
(It will hurt :feelsmega:)

Aftercare
  • Keep your head up straight for a few hours
  • Don’t lean on ur nose while sleeping (don’t sleep on ur side or stomach - sleep on your back)
  • Avoid touching the area of injection, hot showers, the gym and sweating a lot over ur nose for the first day
  • After that first day of care ur good :feelsyay:

Results
IMG 7946

IMG 7947

I couldn’t actually find pictures of people making facial expressions but that’s where the effect is most noticeable.

How long results will take:

  • 3 days: Muscle paralysis will have started and the muscle will move less
  • 1 week: Around 75% of your final result will be reached
  • 2 weeks: You are at your final result of the botox injections
The botox should last for 3 months+ and you will need to do another session after this.

Thanks for reading :feelsahh: and make sure to DYOR before doing DIY btox
