DIY Facepuller (Helmet Method)
What Youโll Need:
Step 1: Helmet Setup
Alternative: Some guys attach the bands around their back molars or use a fake retainer โ just make sure not to stress your teeth sideways.
Step 3: Connect and Adjust
Important Tips:

What Youโll Need:
- A strong bike or climbing helmet
- Should cover your forehead firmly.
- Must not slide around.
- Strong resistance bands or latex tubing
- 5โ15 kg of resistance to start.
- Use two bands for balance.
- Soft mouthguard or dental arch (custom or store-bought)
- Youโll bite on this while pulling.
- Needs to protect your teeth/jaw.
- Carabiners, hooks, or clips
- For connecting bands to the helmet and mouthpiece.
- Adjustable straps or elastic cords
- Can be sewn or knotted through helmet vents.
Step 1: Helmet Setup
- Take a bike helmet and attach resistance bands to the back or sides using holes or straps.
- Secure them so they can pull forward and slightly downward (same direction as ideal facial growth).
- Use a mouthguard you bite down on (like a sports one or custom tray from the dentist).
- Attach small loops or hooks to it for the resistance bands to clip onto.
Alternative: Some guys attach the bands around their back molars or use a fake retainer โ just make sure not to stress your teeth sideways.
Step 3: Connect and Adjust
- Connect the resistance bands from the helmet (back/top of head) to the mouthguard (front).
- When you wear the helmet and bite the mouthguard, it should pull your midface forward, not down or up
- Duration: Start with 15โ30 min per day
- Force: Light tension โ you should feel it, but it should NOT cause pain
- Position: Sit or lay back, head straight, mouth closed tightly around the guard
Important Tips:
- Never over-tighten or sleep with it.
- Donโt apply pressure to your lower jaw (mandible) โ only the maxilla.
