Wode Maya is a Ghanaian vlogger who used to study aeronautical engineering in China. He is a fluent speaker of their language.
he started his channel to "bridge the gap" between Africa and China. He also had a (fictional?) Chinese gf at the time that he would do challenges with, make her wear African textiles, or braid her hair.
For some reasons he seemed a bit naive initially about the way most Chinese people truly felt about black people. Slowly, events like those you mentioned happened and he got more and more redpilled.
At some point he (hopefully) stopped the Chinese approval stuff and decided his channel would be 100% Africa related. If you look at his recent content there isn’t a single video about China. I suppose he graduated and then left China, realized they see him as a subhuman and there is nothing he can do about it, and so decided to focus on empowering his own by doing some kind of pan African vlogging instead

There are many Africans who go to China for university and easily learn Chinese, they just don’t vlog about it or make cringe content trying to be loved by Chinese people or "bridge the gap" like Wode Maya did, to then cry when he realizes those people see him as a subhuman
