Do braces cause recession?

i have a deep bite, meaning my jaw is mildly receeded.
i want to get braces to make my jaw more projected, but i've been hearing that they cause recession and a lot of negative crap, what should i do?

If you want a jaw more projected you need osteotomy

with extractions its definitely recessing, but without not really,i have had braces for 3 years with no extractions and it didnt really recess me, but i think it maybe stopped some forward growth
