Do braces cause recession?

Im getting braces soon, upper first then bottom like 2 or 3 months after, and ive heard they cause recession, but i also see people say it only if you get extraction. Im getting traditional braces for overbite and crowding on bottom teeth and mis alignment.

if you have to get teeth extracted yeah it recessed my mandible hella and now i wanna ropemaxx
