My maxilla is too forward that would ascend me unironically

im glad my orthodontist didn’t extract any teeth
they originally said they would’ve had to but they made it work somehow

yeah, thats what happened to me,, i have to shoot the dentist that did this to me without warning me (my maxilla was NOT too projected)
 
If you have a mild - major overbite, then it could potentially so.

I got a palate expander and braces only top teeth few years ago

i had a bite jumper which basically brings your lower jaw foward
i wish they gave me a palate expander, but they said i didn’t need it and i’ve already gone through braces anyway

Ngl I'm not exactly sure, what causes this. But I think it's more so the illusion of the maxilla getting more reccessed. If you have an overbite, your teeth will get pulled back to match your lower teeth. This could make it look like your maxilla is more reccessed compared to your mouth area if that makes sense. Sorry I am bad at explaining.
 
They are often used in retraction orthodontics but that does not always mean having them = you are getting retraction orthodontics done.
