I’m getting braces this week, and I’ve been wondering if they’re gonna make my appearance worse. I’m not doing any extractions, the main reason im doing this is my bite isn’t alligned neither is my midline, so my fave is just a bit asymmetrical, and my teeth are edge to edge so my lower teeth are gonna back a bit. It would really help taking ur guys opinion if it’s gonna make me better or worse

it will just make your smile better, and fix your profile slightly depending on your bite. If you dont mind sharing your maloclussion type, I can provide a better answer. For example, with a deep bite, once corrected, your face will appear longer along with your chin. Elastics can help fix a recessed lower jaw, dont listen to everyone saying it recesses your maxilla thats retarded if that was the case then shit like thumbpulling would also work. Elastics pull your mandible forward as if you were jutting, sicne its mobile the maxilla isnt. At the very least, youll have a nice smile. which is a HUGE halo.

thank you for helping bro but I have one more question, do braces fix palate asymmetry? And for ur question I did not ask my doctor the maloclussion type, but what I know is my teeth are edge to edge and my midline isn’t aligned with the upper teeth so my bite isn’t the best. But overall my teeth are pretty good compared to others who need braces. I just want to know if it’s gonna make me look better yk other than the smile, can it fix facial asymmetry? My palate is wider on the left side therefore my face is more developed on it and my side profile looks better on that side so u wanted to know if it’s gonna make the other side the same

And my doctor mentioned that my lower lip is a bit forward so I think it’s gonna be behind a few mm

braces can help slightly with palate (upper jaw) asymmetry, but they cant fully fix it if the asymmetry comes from the bone structure rather than just the teeth.

HOLY FUCKİNG COPEEE
you are just a retard, class 2 elastics causes recessed or flat pre-maxilla.

@J0ny_J0 if you are have any malocclusion (deepbite, overbite etc.) you must use "herbst appliance", damon braces and maybe expander (SARPE)
please read this thread with Turkish to English translate.

I get that but my face is still developing and the cheekbone asymmetry is minor so I think if I palate asymmetry is fixed my right cheekbone has a chance to grow

I think my orthodontist will just use the traditional ones , either way what’s the difference between them?
Damon System brackets provide some degree of bony expansion by widening the dental arch, but they are definitely not a substitute for an expander. Additionally, when used in conjunction with an expander (preferably with Sarpe), you can achieve remarkable results.

orthopedic expanders (like an RPE or MARPE) can re-center the palate and improve symmetry and allow the underlying bone to remodel more evenly

I don’t need an expander I don’t have a narrow plate. Last question: what’s bad with traditional braces, and if my doctor insists on doing them what should I tell him to do or the requirements

Traditional braces don't provide the widening that Damon braces do. So, Damon braces are better anyway. If the orthodontist you see rejects this, your doctor is clearly an idiot. I've been dealing with this son of a bitch of a bitch for a year, but unfortunately, they don't understand words. The only solution is to go to another doctor.

Ah ok I get you, last question; if he’s gonna retract the lower teeth just a couple of mm he told me my lower lip is gonna retract a bit, does that mean my chin will be affected with it or will it make me recessed

No, except for elastics and forsus appliance, no orthodontic device (including all types of braces) will pull your teeth back. Braces never to descend; on the contrary, they cause to ascend.

So if he doesn’t extract or use elastics I’m good right? Even though if he uses traditional braces

Yes, but it's better to use Damon braces, it's up to your preference. It's okay without Damon braces, it's just a little better.
