Do braces prevent the affect of mewing?

I just recently put on braces and as far as I know the doctor isn’t retracting any of the upper teeth, and I didn’t extract anything.

Are you sure? I used to push harder on the left side of my palate now it’s asymmetrical and it’s wider than the right side if it’s cope do you do what could’ve caused the asymmetry?
