do chinese/asian people view eachothers attractiveness the same way we do?

there’s a common rumor that chinese men are short and unattractive, but now that im in shanghai, I’ve noticed that this stereotype doesnt hold up. there are plenty of goodlooking men and women here. they’re not that short either. when I walk down the street, i’d say 5 out of 10 guys mostly younger ones look above average. same goes for the girls (prooly makeup). so my question is: do chinese men and women perceive each other’s attractiveness the same way we do? for example, if I see a Chinese htn, would Chinese women rate him the same, or more like a mtn?
