Is there any evidence for this? From my own experience, once you stop the constant release of dopamine your brain adapts almost immediately and things that don't deliver as much dopamine are now easier to do than they were before.

It’s nofap bs influence on this forum, no evidence
theres some truth to dopamine receptors getting desensitised and rewired and shit but not ‘fried’

When I dopamine fast for a day and then listen to music or eat, it feels insane.

Its like when u listen to a song too much until you hate it, then rediscover it a year later and it sounds amazing.

Here is how "desensitisation" occurs from things like porn

  1. Decline in dopamine receptors. Most studies point to a decline in D2 dopamine receptors, which means less sensitivity to available dopamine, leaving the addict less sensitive to normally rewarding experiences.
  2. Decline in baseline (tonic) dopamine levels. Lower dopamine levels leave an addict “hungry” for dopamine-raising activities/substances of all kinds.
  3. Blunted dopamine in response (phasic dopamine) to normal rewards. Dopamine normally rises in response to rewarding activities. Once your addiction is the most reliable source of dopamine, cravings arise urging you to use porn.
  4. Decline in CRF-1 receptors, which function to raise dopamine levels in the striatum (only studied with cocaine).
  5. Loss of reward circuit grey matter, which means a loss in dendrites. This translates into fewer nerve connections or synapses. A 2014 study on porn users correlated less grey matter with more porn use.
  6. Decline in opioids or opioid receptors. Results in feeling less joy and less pleasure from normal actions and day to day life

interesting, so would this all be reversible if you stop feeding the addiction?

good avi btw

I am not sure about the whole no fap theory, I think you should atleast ejaculate once a week. But I am 100% certain porn is bad, watching it doesn't only fuck your brain up its also fucking cucked.

How can they be fried? They are not electronic cables. I think it is a way of saying they are overused metamoriphically

based boling

I think full resensitization of dopamine receptors is upwards of 90 days, but that's from drug addict studies which activate the same pathways.

Anecdotally I feel much better after just a few days, but the issue of hypofrontality still lingers and draws me back in.

I don't know
But having these little validations all the time is not good for your mental health

The average forum user here is STARVED of dopamine.

If dopamine recepters can be fried, how is chad not in a mental asylum yet with his life being a constant dopamine hit?

to clarify, i meant "fried" in the sense of being permanently damaged

Huge BS to make you feel good about yourself

Many addicts live a normal life after recovering so I doubt you can actually permanently damage your dopamine receptors from overuse

No one here ever looks into neuroplasticity almost nothing is permanent with the brain overtime
