I have elastics that pull my maxilla forward and my mandible backwards but they are not for the purpose of fixing my bite, just straightening my teeth. I wear them extra in hopes of additional maxillary growth however should I be concerned about recessing my mandible in the process?

are the elastics attached to an external source like headgear to pull the maxilla out?

No it is attached to my bottom teeth. I understand this may have an effect on my mandible but I am wondering if it is a big enough deal to worry about or if I should keep trying to improve my maxilla. Also, am I even getting any maxillary benefit if I am almost 16?

Let me guess, the elastics go from your upper molar to your lower canine, right?

yes they recess. :feelswhy:

Dump as.
That won't do anything for your maxilla. It's just there to get your jaw in the right position. I'm also unhappy with the way the doctors try to do that, but it won't do anything for your maxilla. Your lower jaw is loose and your upper jaw isn't, which means you need something solid to make your maxilla grow, and sure, at 16, it can still grow very well with the right method

It’s not about pulling forward my maxilla. I heard it can pull all of my teeth forward which can create an illusion of more forward growth

fr that'll mess ur jaw up bro ngl just get max growth elsewhere yk like facial exercises or something im 16 and my bite is good already so u should too

damn you might be cooked

maxilla won't grow unless he does an expander and his bones hasnt fused, no regular braces is impacting it at all
