I'd argue it would have a greater effect, it's why it's socially acceptable for women to put pounds of makeup on their face but the moment you're caught wearing lifts you're seen as a fraud
Evolutionarily, if the small amount of males that were able to reproduce didn't actually have the genes that makes them moggers (akin to frauding or hardmaxxing) it would have been far more consequential for the many offspring that they did have as opposed to a single foid frauding and having much less children
