Do I actually have to shave my head for Hair Transplant?

I need hair transplant because Im losing density and I'm already on fin. I want more density in my head but do I really need to shave before that shit? Maybe a dumb question but hair is my biggest insecurity

Both times, I did not have to shave the front of my head, only the back and sides. Front hair was over an inch so I got to cover it.
