I agree. But I like the way long hair feels personally. Like when I workout or run having the flow and the warmth from it.

A general rule is if you have messy hair you need trimmed beard/stubble or you look like a hobo. I would go with 1st and 2nd picture hair but a bit shorter in the sides. Long hair doesn't look good
