estriol daily is fine, it doesn't interfere with tret and actually helps with the barrier disruption tret causes so if anything it's more useful on tret nights. the irritation is almost certainly the frequency increase, slow it back down to where your skin was happy and reintroduce more gradually. for 5 minutes of incidental sun you don't really need sunscreen but if you're on tret your skin is more photosensitive than usual so a light mineral on exposed areas doesn't hurt.
