Been lurking here for a few months and realised I need to hardmax.
I'm not sure whether my chin is small or actually recessed. Given it does not protrude past my lips in a full side profile and my lips are considerably behind the nose, I think I am recessed, and so personally think I should get trimax in spite of the much greater preparation and recovery time.
I had braces for 2 years so my bite is 'perfect'/very slight overbite, and I don't think this is camouflage orthodontics as I never wore elastics.
My entire hardmaxxing plan for my lower third is as follows:
- Trimax/genioplasty
- Jaw angle implants (I have neutral/inward flared gonions which give me a narrow jaw), to increase jaw width
- Slight filler for final touches and square chin.
My zygos are wide enough to give me very slight hollow cheeks when debated, however I hope a more projected chin would increase hollowness and reduce/lift the 'fat' in my hyoid region.
On the topic of CCW, wouldn't this produce a 'double antegonial notch', as the pivot where the jaw is cut and rotated would not form a straight line with the rest of my already curved jaw.
Overall, do you think my lower third is savable from hardmaxxing or is it over? I have a 6/8 tooth smile but my teeth are quite large so I don't think my palate is super narrow either
I have tried to align the photo in Frankfurt plane, and provided a front view (which does not look as bad as side).
