Do men and women have a specific smell?

When I'm around certain friends, I get a smell that doesn't seem like it's coming from a deodorant/perfume/laundry soap. It is a fairly pungent odor (not sweat) that seems to come from either their body or their nasal exhalation.
I remember that a girl told one of those friends with a peculiar smell "I love the way you smell; you smell like a man".
And I have also noticed the same thing with women. To avoid accusations like "muh LARPer", "muh sexhaver", "muh bragging", I will say that I was close to a girl and I got a smell (I think it came from her exhalation or skin) that I REALLY liked. My mom, sometimes, smells similar...
What do you think?

Yes, after watching that movie Perfume(2006) about a guy obsessed with smells, I actually started to go around sniffing random people and was surprised by how unaware I was until then about how people smell, and how many layers of scents can have on them - women, besides their body smell also have the scent of shampoo, soap or shower gel, body or hand cream, perfume, lipstick, etc.

Muh pheromones

I thought the same thing; but upon investigation I realized that, supposedly, they have no perceptible smell.
The smell I'm talking about IS noticeable.
