People love to throw around the word “mainstream” at every opportunity

But what actually makes something niche or mainstream?

It’s the same with the word “larp” and it just gets to a point where you start to question if those words even mean anything anymore. If I like a popular franchise like bleach on the internet it’s “mainstream slop” but in real life you can rarely ever find someone who’s actually seen the show to its latest arc and talk about the show to a meaningful degree. They’ve all just “heard” of it and haven’t actually watched many or any episodes.

So is it mainstream depending on the amount of actual consumers or the amount of tourists who’ve simply heard about it?

It’s ironic because in real life even something like HxH is pretty niche

Similar thing happens on other communities and I don’t understand it

I've seen edits of schaduw forum "chads" mogging org forum "chads" on tiktok, and in the comments they're basically just saying org is all normies and mainstream but schaduw is true niche 8chan edgy site

Pretty gay if you ask me

Example of schaduw forum chad: @Subhuman

i think something gaining popularity shouldn’t always be seen negatively
