compress spine? If so how can i avoid it?
 
do it laying down aka bench press

Its so goddamn over if you care about one cm of height, plus the aesthetic gain and strength from doing the exercise far outways the loss of that small bitta height

Is that height loss permenant?
 
Overhead presses improved the hell of my bench for some reason. Very good exercise.

i find opposite for me it doesnt carry over at all lol
only dips/floor press/ incline work for bench for me

Works for me because of shoulder support and stability. As soon as I improved that my bench went up a lot, I was always wondering why my chest press was nearly twice as strong as my bench until i started doing overhead presses.

mayb because i was the opposite and focused on ohp for a while and did very little benching

Yeah thats probably why mate, shoulder support is so important for benches, i remember when i first started benching and the bar was wobbling side to side due to lack of stability :lul: :lul:

Also my shoulders and chest are weak genetically, but for some reason they grow really big. Unlike my back and legs where im strong af but hard to grow.
