Do some people suit glasses or are they just a complete looksmin for everyone?

Im looking into getting LASIK this summer after wearing glasses for around 10 years. When i tell people this, they ask what i look like when i don't wear them (as I wear them pretty much 24/7.) 80% of the time i hear “you look strange without them.” In my head i think this is because obviously they have only ever seen me with them on, but on the other hand I wonder if they help to sort of mask some peoples flaws within their eye area.

yeah they can hide horrible undereyes, dark circles and non existing eyebrows.

but in most cases a looksmin.
